Responsibilities
Chelsea serves as the director of communications for Virginia Tech's College of Engineering. With nearly 10 years of strategic communications experience, Chelsea focuses on the planning and execution of the college's comprehensive communications and marketing plan that aligns with universitywide strategic goals and initiatives. She actively contributes to coordinated efforts to increase alumni engagement, participation, and fundraising objectives associated with college priorities and university campaigns. Chelsea helps oversee the communications strategy for 13 departments and the college as a whole.
Education
Chelsea holds a Master of Science in Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in public relations, both from West Virginia University.
Background
Chelsea accepted her position as director of communications and marketing in 2023. Prior to that, she served as the communications manager for the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering where she implemented a strategic communications approach that highlighted faculty research and expertise as well as the department’s innovative and cutting-edge programs. She has experience in marketing campaigns, digital content and photography, and enjoys writing stories that make technical research accessible for all audiences.
