Responsibilities
Harpreet serves as the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech. He provides strategic leadership for the college’s research enterprise, fostering transdisciplinary collaboration, expanding large-scale research initiatives, and strengthening partnerships across academia, industry, and government. He works with faculty and research teams to enhance the college’s national and global research impact.

Education
Harpreet holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.

Background
Harpreet joined the Virginia Tech community in 2014. Prior to joining Virginia Tech, he was a Viterbi Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Southern California and held research positions at The University of Texas at Austin, Samsung Research America, Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs, and Qualcomm. Within Virginia Tech, he has served in a variety of academic and leadership roles, including Interim Department Head of the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He was appointed Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in December 2024.
