Matt Goff

Responsibilities

Matt serves as a Principal Gift Officer at Virginia Tech, where he partners with alumni, friends, and philanthropic leaders to advance the university’s highest priorities. Working across multiple colleges and units, he cultivates meaningful relationships that connect donors’ passions with transformational opportunities, helping create a lasting impact for Virginia Tech and future generations of Hokies.

Education

Matt earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from James Madison University in 2009 and a Master of Science in Athletic Administration from James Madison University in 2010.

Background

A four-year letterwinner on James Madison University’s football team, Matt discovered early in his collegiate career a passion for higher education and the impact of philanthropy. After completing his academic and athletic career at JMU, he began his professional career at the NCAA National Office before spending the next 15 years in a variety of fundraising roles at American University, the United States Naval Academy, and, most recently, Virginia Tech, where he has served for the past eight years.

Matt and his wife, Chelsea, have enjoyed raising their three children—Camden, Kinsley, and Cooper—in Blacksburg and are proud to call the New River Valley home.
