Cheri Warren

Responsibilities

Cheri Warren serves as Director of Human Resources for the Virginia Tech College of Engineering, where she partners with college leadership to advance strategic human capital initiatives, support organizational effectiveness, and enhance employee engagement across a large and complex academic environment.

Background

Warren joined Virginia Tech in January 2023 as Senior HR Manager for the Pamplin College of Business. In that role, she supported the onboarding of a new dean, coordinated logistics for a comprehensive college-wide organizational review, and launched a faculty and staff engagement initiative focused on recognition and workplace culture.

Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Warren was Senior Human Resource Manager at Lawrence Companies, Inc., where she led the establishment of an on-site employee medical clinic as part of a broader wellness program. She also managed the organization’s self-funded benefits program, overseeing plan design, administration, and cost management, while leading recruiting, employee relations, policy governance, and HRIS operations.

Earlier in her career, she served as Deputy Director and Chief of Operations at the Taubman Museum of Art, where she built the human resources function and managed the IT, security, HR, and facilities teams.

Education

Warren earned her degree from University of South Florida. She is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management. She also holds a Not-for-Profit Certificate in Accounting from the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.
