Responsibilities
Suzanne serves as the assistant director of communications for Virginia Tech's College of Engineering. With a decade’s worth of journalism experience, Suzanne focuses on strategic, creative storytelling for the college by writing and editing stories, elevating their reach externally, and collaborating with university-level and departmental communicators, external partners, and other stakeholders. By infusing these efforts with long-term strategic communications planning, Suzanne aims to spotlight research projects by students and faculty, alumni journeys, transdisciplinary projects, and more.
Education
Suzanne holds a Master of Arts in film studies from Hollins University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English and philosophy from Roanoke College.
Background
Suzanne accepted her position with Virginia Tech in 2022. Prior to joining the university, she worked at The Roanoke Times in a variety of editing roles, most recently as features editor overseeing the newspaper’s special sections. She has experience managing both recurring and one-time print publications, as well as coordinating editorial content strategies on digital platforms.
