Spring 2026 Engineering Orientation: Virtual Academic Advising and Course Registration
Virtual academic advising and course registration is a series of modules, events, and meetings designed to support you as you transition to college and is required for all new engineering students. This experience is in addition to the University First-Year and Transfer Spring Orientation. An outline of the process is below.
Spring 2026 Engineering Orientation Timeline:
- November 10: Receive the College of Engineering Orientation Welcome email
- November 10 - December 8: Complete the engineering orientation checklist items
- December 3: Receive the Virtual Academic Advising and Course Registration email
- December 3-January 16: Attend mandatory virtual one-on-one academic advising for your major, dates vary by major (this can be done after you begin registering for courses)
- December 1-January 26: Register for courses, this will be an ongoing process and can begin prior to meeting with an academic advisor
- December 12: Attend the mandatory virtual COE Overview Session at 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. via Zoom. If you are unable to attend live, the recording will be posted here afterwards.
- December 24-January 1: Virginia Tech Closed
- January 16: Attend university orientation from 1:30-5:00 p.m.
- January 20: Classes begin
