Responsibilities

Emily is an inVenTs Studio Graduate Assistant for the Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity. She is responsible for maintaining the makerspace inside Hoge Hall and helping first-year participants use the space safely. Along with that, Emily is one of the graduate student leads for the Female Engineering Recruitment Leadership Team which encourages prospective female engineering students to choose to come to Virginia Tech.  

Education

Emily received her undergraduate degree in Networking and Cybersecurity, a specialization within Computer Engineering, from Virginia Tech in the Spring of 2021. While here for her undergraduate degree, she also earned a Disabilities Studies Minor.  She is currently pursuing her Master's of Engineering in Computer Science.

Background

Emily joined the CEED team in August 2021 as a graduate student after completing her undergraduate degree. She has been involved with the CEED community since before her Freshman year by participating in Women's Preview Weekend in the Spring of 2017!  Since then, she has been involved in the Hypatia residential learning community as a freshman participant, a studio training committee member, a mentor, and a member of the Galipatia Leadership Team.
