Responsibilities

Alexis is the Assistant Director of Advising for the College of Engineering Academic Affairs Office and is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic advising initiatives, and overall academic affairs operations for undergraduate engineering students. This includes providing academic advising support related to academic eligibility, early academic referral system reports, academic relief, and resignation/withdrawal. Additionally, Alexis coordinates the scholarship process for upper-class undergraduate students and new transfer students, as well as the outstanding senior selection process. 

Education

Alexis holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management (2010) and a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) in Counselor Education (2014), both from Virginia Tech.

Background

Upon finishing her undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech in 2010, Alexis served as technical recruiter in the DC area. In 2012, Alexis came back to Virginia Tech to pursue her master’s degree while working as a Graduate Assistant for Career and Professional Development. In 2014, she began her role as an Academic and Career Advisor for the Department of Engineering Education at Virginia Tech where she successfully supported first and second year engineering students. In 2023, Alexis moved to the College of Engineering Academic Affairs office as the Assistant Director of Advising. 

In 2017, Alexis received the Virginia Tech Advisor of the Month award for qualities and practices that distinguish her as an outstanding academic advisor.  She also received the Alumni Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising at Virginia Tech and the NACADA Outstanding Advising Award Certificate of Merit recipient in the Primary Advising category in 2019.
