Noah's Trip to Australia and New Zealand
Noah embarked on the 2024 RSAP cohort to Australia and New Zealand this past May. He got to visit different companies across different realms of engineering in order to learn about industry in other countries. If he could do the experience all over again, he would have researched the companies he visited beforehand so he could ask better questions when he was on site. Overall, his favorite tour was getting to visit the airplane hangar in Christchurch. In his time abroad, he was also surprised by the exchange rate, and how much more expensive everything was since Australia and New Zealand are islands that rely on imported goods.
His favorite memory from his trip was his last day, where he and the rest of his cohort got up early and made the trip to Bondi Beach to watch the sunrise. That evening, they also did a dinner cruise in Sydney, which fell on the opening night of Sydney's light festival, so they were all on the boat while the light show was going on and there were lots of fireworks. Noah recommends studying abroad to anyone looking to pursue it because he got to learn about the engineering industry and it helped him decide what major to pursue. Overall, Noah’s biggest piece of advice is to apply for scholarships, without his scholarship he wouldn’t have been able to pursue this experience.
