Matthew Morrison, a driven and dedicated aerospace engineering student at Virginia Tech, is a rising sophomore with a passion for propulsion systems. Hailing from San Jose, California, Matthew is a diligent learner with a remarkable 4.0 GPA. His enthusiasm for aerospace engineering was ignited during his middle school years when he stumbled upon a captivating image of a jet engine on a testing rig with the afterburner on. Since then, he has aspired to work in the field of aerospace engineering, particularly focusing on propulsion systems.

At Virginia Tech, Matthew is actively involved in the College of Engineering, having attended the STEP engineering program for incoming first-year students. This experience not only helped him acclimate to his coursework but also introduced him to the vibrant engineering community at the university. He also lived in Hoge Hall as a member of the Galipatia LLC, further immersing himself in the engineering culture.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Matthew is a devoted volunteer, dedicating his time to helping his high school's robotics team. His involvement showcases his commitment to nurturing the next generation of engineers. Furthermore, he dreams of contributing to the field of green aviation, inspired by a presentation he attended at Virginia Tech. His aspiration is to work on innovative projects that aim to reduce the carbon footprint of air travel, reflecting his deep concern for the environment.

Beyond his academic and professional interests, Matthew is a multifaceted individual with a keen eye for photography and a love for cooking. His hobbies include capturing breathtaking landscape and astrophotography images and experimenting with new recipes, showcasing his creativity and curiosity. Mickey Mouse, the timeless cartoon character, holds a special place in his heart, symbolizing enduring inspiration and joy.

One of Matthew's role models is Adam Savage from MythBusters, admired for his passion and problem-solving abilities. Matthew is inspired by Adam's tenacity in testing new ideas and overcoming challenges, traits that he strives to emulate in his own academic and professional journey. As he continues his studies at Virginia Tech, Matthew dreams of contributing significantly to the field of aerospace engineering, making a positive impact on the future of aviation while remaining steadfast in his commitment to preserving nature and its wonders.
