"Don’t be a follower, be a leader. (My mom)"

Zoie Mills is a sophomore majoring in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Tech, where she appreciates the strong community and the extensive resources available to help students succeed. With a GPA of 3.86, Zoie is dedicated to her academic and personal growth.

Growing up in Roanoke, VA, Zoie comes from a large family with five siblings. At home, she has a playful 2-year-old Maltese-Shih Tzu mix named Frankie Bowski, known for his distinctive black and white coat and mohawk.

In her free time, Zoie enjoys crocheting, baking, napping, snacking, and playing Papa Mocharia on her iPad. She is a fan of R&B, 2010’s Pop, and K-Pop music, and her favorite film is Hidden Figures. Louise from Bob’s Burgers is her favorite cartoon character because of her humor and intelligence.

Zoie’s role model is Katherine Johnson, whose trailblazing career inspired Zoie to pursue engineering. As a child, Zoie dreamed of going to college and living independently. Now at Virginia Tech, she aspires to be successful and happy with a beautiful family.

Zoie is actively involved in various programs, including Pathways, STEP, and Digerati, and is a Clark Scholar. She also volunteers with outreach sessions and at an animal shelter in Montgomery County. Zoie is passionate about changing the way social media influences younger kids to act or look older.
