Bryan Lagunas
"LOVE IS AN ACT OF WILL, BOTH AN INTENTION AND AN ACTION"
Bryan Lagunas is a third-year Civil Engineering student at Virginia Tech with a GPA of 3.44. Hailing from Alexandria, Virginia, Bryan appreciates the robust alumni network of Virginia Tech engineers, which he believes has significantly contributed to his professional growth and opportunities.
As the eldest of three younger brothers, Bryan is close to his family, including his Morkie dog, Simba. His interests include reading, meditating, and staying active, with a particular fondness for outdoor activities. Bryan's favorite cartoon character is Timmy Turner, whom he admires for his big dreams and the fulfillment of his wishes.
Bryan enjoys a variety of music genres, including Reggaeton, Alternative R&B, House, and Hip-Hop/Rap, and his favorite film is Creed III. His role models are his parents: his father, with an engineering mindset, taught him to be versatile in all his endeavors, while his mother’s resilience and work ethic inspired him to think critically in academics.
Inspired by his early exposure to the world of construction through his father’s work, Bryan initially dreamed of creating his own structural consulting firm and tutoring organization. He is passionate about infrastructure and equitable learning opportunities and currently participates in undergraduate research focused on mitigating language barriers in the construction industry.
Bryan is actively involved in tutoring for Title I schools in Virginia, aiming to support students in math. He hopes to become a CEED mentor to assist first-generation and low-income undergraduate students and aspires to use his civil engineering degree to improve access to education, healthcare, and housing for marginalized communities.
