Ifeoluwa Akinyosoye
"If you want to do something do it now"
Ifeoluwa Akinyosoye is a sophomore at Virginia Tech, pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Originally from Ondo Town, Nigeria, Ifeoluwa boasts a GPA of 3.58 and values the networking opportunities and connections with like-minded individuals that come with being an engineer.
With three older siblings who serve as her role models, Ifeoluwa is driven to excel and become the best version of herself. Although she doesn't have any pets due to her fear of animals, she enjoys organizing things, writing lists, and having video calls with family and friends.
Her favorite music genre is Juju, a traditional Yoruba music style, and her favorite film is "The Black Book." In middle school, Ifeoluwa didn't have a clear career path in mind but knew she loved math and Basic Technology, which led her to engineering.
At Virginia Tech, she dreams of gaining hands-on experience through internships and seeing massive projects come to life, inspired by her childhood visits to construction sites with her father. Ifeoluwa is actively involved in Hypatia and professional organizations like NSBE and ASCE. She also volunteers for Concrete for Kids in ASCE, preparing and conducting educational activities for local elementary schools in Blacksburg.
If she could change one thing, it would be to extend spring and eliminate winter, as she finds the cold challenging as an African from the tropics.
