Roberto Alvarez

"Every person has their own pace."

Roberto Alvarez is from Woodbridge, Virginia, and is a junior in Civil Engineering with a 3.64 GPA. He says the best thing about being a Virginia Tech Engineering student is being exposed to many opportunities to connect with other engineers and career options.

When he was in middle school, he dreamed about being a soccer player. Roberto has taken part in Seismic Design meetings here at Virginia Tech and became a member of SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers). He dreams about building his own house in the future.

Roberto mentioned that his role model is his father because he is a hard worker and a wise man. Roberto’s favorite cartoon character is Dexter because he finds his grumpy attitude funny. Roberto enjoys listening to music, playing video games, watching movies and shows, and gardening.
