Brianna Detter

Brianna Detter is from Herndon, Virginia, and is a sophomore in Computer Science with a 3.90 GPA. She says the best thing about being a Virginia Tech Engineer is being a part of a large community of Virginia Tech engineers that you can collaborate with.

When Brianna was in middle school, she wanted to be a chemical engineer. Now that she is at Virginia Tech, she is dreaming of being involved in the future of game development, "Hyper-realistic and expansive games today are amazing to experience, but it also makes one think about the possibilities for what video games could be in the future." Brianna mentioned that if she could change one thing, she wishes that she was more confident in herself throughout middle and high school. 

Brianna was a part of the Hypatia Living Learning community and she likes to play video games, do diamond art, and watch a variety of TV shows. Brianna’s favorite cartoon character is Akko from Little Witch Academia because despite always being doubted by her peers, she continues to persevere to reach her goals and because her passion is inspiring. 

Brianna’s role model is her mom because her mom has taught her the importance of being a hard worker and putting in what you expect to get out of something. Being an engineer herself, she was the one who inspired Brianna to get into STEM and pursue it in college. She stated, “She is my #1 supporter, and I am hers as well.”
