Shannon Woolfolk
Shannon Woolfolk is a Junior in Electrical Engineering, from Gainesville, Virginia. She believes that the best thing about being a VT Engineer is the multitude of ways that students can get involved in activities with people who are passionate about similar topics and fields. When Shannon was in middle school, she dreamed of being a pediatrician, like her older cousin. Now, she’s taken that idea of helping others and has strengthened it into a focus of working within Energy and Power Electronic Systems. She looks forward to showing a project of her own design to her family and is proud of what she has accomplished so far.
While in college, Shannon has volunteered through the Dean’s Team for the College of Engineering, along with being part of the Galipatia and CEED community as a member and mentor for three years. She strives to rid the workplace of gender and racial inequality, a feat that she plans on taking wherever life takes her.
One of Shannon’s role models is Roxane Gay. She finds strength in Roxane’s honesty on her societal viewpoints and how she challenges the status quo. Outside of class, Shannon enjoys reading, running, building Legos, and watching crime shows on Netflix. However, her favorite film is Freedom Writers.
