Student Guest Information
- Where will the guests sleep?
Guests will most likely be sleeping on the floor. Don't forget your sleeping bag or blankets and pillow. Please be sure to bring all personal hygiene items, including deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste /toothbrush, robe, shower shoes, soap, towel, and anything else you may need.
- What does the schedule look like?

- What type of clothing should I wear?
Dress for the Preview will be casual. You will wear your event t-shirt for the dinner on Saturday. Spring weather in Blacksburg is very unpredictable. It could be snowing or 60 degrees -- please check the Weather before you leave home. You will be doing a lot of walking throughout the program, so please be sure to bring comfortable shoes. Don't forget to bring an umbrella or other rain gear, as the program will go on, rain or shine.
- What are the behavioral expectations?
When guests stay on campus, they are guests of the university and required to abide by the rules of the university, including but not limited to: observation of residence hall quiet hours; no possession / consumption of alcohol under the age of 21; no smoking under the age of 18; no possession/consumption of illegal drugs. Also, guests are reminded that a student has been gracious enough to open her room so please be considerate of her personal property as well as the property of her roommate. The program staff reserves the right to dismiss from the program any student who fails to follow the program policies or fails to display appropriate behavior.
Parent Information
- Where will the parents stay?
Preview Weekend parents will need to arrange their own accommodations. Virginia Tech admissions offers this page for lodging choices.
- Will there be any programming for parents?
Parents can register to attend Hokie Focus events during the weekend. There will also be a question and answer session with CEED Staff and current Hypatia students in Pritchard Hall, the home of CEED’s Living Learning Communities, Hypatia and Galileo (engineering) and Digerati (IT) on Sunday morning.
- Where will I pick up my daughter?
Participants can be picked up from the classroom in Pritchard Hall following the Q & A session.
