CEED Women's Preview Weekend

While we are disappointed that we cannot meet in person in 2021, we have create a whole series of events from Monday, April 12 - Saturday, April 17, 2021. Participants will have the chance to talk to faculty, learn about about engineering student organizations, majors, maker spaces, and other aspects of student life such as dining and what to do in the town of Blacksburg and the New River Valley. You will also meet with a pair of current female engineering students in small groups to learn about their experience here at Tech. The first 150 registrants will receive an event t-shirt and materials to complete a hands on activity. All young women offered admission to the College of Engineering will receive an invitation via email. 

What is Women’s Preview Weekend?

Women’s Preview Weekend (WPW) provides an opportunity for young women who have been offered admission to the College of Engineering to visit the campus and make an informed decision about attending Virginia Tech.  During Preview Weekend, students meet current students and faculty and get a first-hand look at Virginia Tech and the College of Engineering.

When is Women's Preview Weekend?

Monday, April 12 - Friday, April 16 from 7:00 - 8:30pm & Saturday, April 17 from 1:00pm - 5:00pm. You are not recquired to attend all sessions.

Registration Information

All women applying to the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech will receive save-the-date information about Women’s Preview Weekend in January. This will be followed by an invitation to register via the email address submitted on the college application for those students who are offered admission.  Registration will remain open until the event is full.

NOTE: Hokie Focus is the same weekend as Women’s Preview Weekend.  If you are also participating in Hokie Focus, please register for the Saturday session of Hokie Focus.

Where will guests stay?

(Note: All events are online for 2021.) Preview Weekend guests will stay on campus, in the room of a female undergraduate engineering student who is part of the Hypatia living-learning community in Lee Hall.

How will guests and hostesses meet?

Hosts will text, email or call their guests to introduce themselves prior to the Preview Weekend, to arrange a meeting time and to discuss details of your visit.
