Comments from BEE VT Participants

  • "I want to offer a sincere thank you for all that you do at Virginia Tech. I've never met so many other kids that look like me, and much less kids that look like me and want to be engineers. I know the experience I had through BEE VT wouldn't have happened without you, and I wanted to let you know the work you do is both incredibly important and life changing for black, teenage boys like myself. I will be applying to Virginia Tech for college, but I can't let this opportunity fly by without expressing my gratitude. So, thank you, and I hope you continue to change lives."

  • "I can’t thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to participate in the CEED BEEVT Program. I was able to make new friends, learn a lot about the different engineering fields, and generally get a better feel for the college life at Virginia tech. I had a great time engaging in the Rube Goldberg  competition, learning to work efficiently and productively with a team under pressure. My team winning first place was a huge relief and honor for me and the other members, along with achieving second in the ctf cyber security challenge."
  • "Blessed to spend the final two weeks of my summer at Virginia Tech as a participant in BEE VT. During my time, I learned a lot about engineering, a field I hadn't originally considered majoring in. However, one week into this program, I realized that computer science might be a valuable minor for my goal of becoming a quantitative trader. This program helped me understand that postgraduate research is a career I'm definitely interested in. Additionally, I was able to network with fellow campers, residential assistants, and program assistants, gaining more knowledge about not just engineering but also business, postgraduate work, and Virginia Tech. Thank you, Kim Lester, and the entire CEED staff for making this program happen. I truly had an amazing time."
  • "I just wanted to say thank you for organizing this program and giving your time to my son the past two weeks. He came home ready for college.  He really enjoyed himself and plans on applying to VT."
  • "Thanks and once again thank you very much for your commitment and contribution to programs like BEE. This program definitely left an indelible impression on him and deepened his desire to pursue engineering as a future major."
