Project Goal
Emerging chemical and biological hazards threaten health and safety across civilian and military environments, from forever chemicals to chemical and biological releases. Tools do not currently exist to detect or respond to these threats at the individual level due to a lack of portable, robust, low-cost sensing technologies. This project will build capacity within Virginia Tech to advance sensor technologies and AI-driven analysis of environmental data, with potential applications across a wide range of potential multimillion and center-level proposal efforts. Specific outcomes of this project include several interdisciplinary proposals and a roadmap to an NSF ERC grant proposal.
