“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.” — Quran 94:5

Yasir Faroug Hassan, a second-year Computer Science major at Virginia Tech, is a driven individual with a GPA of 4.0 and a passion for networking and meeting like-minded people. His love for sports is evident in his hobbies, which include basketball, volleyball, soccer, gym sessions, and hiking. Despite being engrossed in the world of sports, Yasir's childhood was also marked by a deep admiration for fictional characters, particularly Batman. The Dark Knight served as a constant source of inspiration, sparking Yasir's imagination through various forms of media, from Lego games to comics.

Raised in Bristow, VA, Yasir comes from a large family with seven siblings. His father, a role model and a source of motivation, instilled in him the importance of education and hard work. Yasir's dreams during middle school oscillated between emulating his favorite sports personalities, John Cena and Lionel Messi, envisioning himself as a professional soccer player or a WWE wrestler.

Now, as a part of Virginia Tech's vibrant community, Yasir finds fulfillment in his involvement with organizations like NSBE, the Galileo Living Learning Community, and the Human Powered Submarine Design Team. Beyond academics, he dedicates his time to volunteer service, organizing food and clothing drives and participating in religious events at his local mosque. Yasir's dreams have expanded; he aspires to graduate and explore the world, with Japan being his first destination due to his fascination with its rich culture.

Yasir's philosophy in life is one of acceptance and forward thinking. He believes that every experience, regardless of its nature, happens for a reason, and he embraces the future with open arms, eager to see where his passions and determination will take him.
