Jennifer Fadul Marin
Jennifer Fabiola Fadul Marin is from Chesterfield, Virginia, and is a junior in Mechanical Engineering with a 3.59 GPA. She says the best thing about being a Virginia Tech engineering student is that the opportunities are endless at Virginia Tech. She said, “There is something here for everyone even if you don’t know what you want to do as a career yet, Virginia Tech allows you to explore different careers.”
When Jennifer was in middle school, she always had a special interest in science, and math, and tried to understand how things work the was they do, but she could never find a career that grouped her passions together until her father introduced her to mechanical engineering. And ever since then, mechanical engineering became her dream. Now that Jennifer is at Virginia Tech, she dreams about making renewable energy readily available to a wide range of consumers to reduce our carbon footprint one household at a time. If she could change one thing, she would like to resolve the conflicts in the world between different countries and within countries because it is despairing to see such suffering between people when we are all humans.

Currently, she is involved with the Theme Park Engineering and Design Club (TPED) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineering(ASME). As a volunteer service, she participates in Donut Run with NCLF or NSBE PCI (pre-college initiative) events. In her free time, she enjoys riding a bike, especially around campus, and taking walks to clear her head and enjoy the beauty around her.
Jennifer mentioned that her role model is her mom because she works diligently every day to provide a better future for her daughters. She said, “My mom did not have the best education opportunities growing up so she set a goal for herself to provide her daughters with everything she couldn’t have, and I admire her for it.” Jennifer also mentioned that her favorite cartoon character is Lilo because she seems weird and is misunderstood by others, but later in the movie, she finds a friend who understands her even when others do not, which she thinks is comforting to those who feel left out of the room.
