"You only fear what you can’t handle"

Mohamed Kanu is from Alexandria, Virginia, and is a senior in Computer Science with a 3.46 GPA. He says the best thing about being a Virginia Tech engineering student is the fact how much people are willing to work together. When Mohamed was in middle school, he dreamt of being an NBA player. Now that Mohamed is at Virginia Tech, he dreams of owning a company and traveling around the world. If he could change one thing, it would be changing the distribution of wealth.

Currently, at Virginia Tech, he is a mentor for the lower classmen, showing them the road on how to achieve in engineering and what to expect in the future. Also, as a CEED mentor, he tells them how to adjust to engineering life while also being social. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and exploring nature.

Mohamed mentioned that his role model is Lebron James because having the odds faced against him, he overcame poverty by finding a passion and working on that passion until he became the best in the field. Mohamed also mentioned that his favorite cartoon character is Gumball because he is very curious like him, always willing to go on an adventure, and seeks what he wants no matter what others' opinions.
