“Je préfère la folie des patients à la sagesse de l'indifférence'. - Anatole France

David M. Rwigema is from Chantilly, Virginia, and is a junior in Civil Engineering with a 3.70 GPA. He says the best thing about being a Virginia Tech engineering student is the fact that Virginia Tech has the best Engineering program among all the other Universities in Virginia. In middle school, David dreamt of becoming a pilot. Now that he is at Virginia Tech, he still dreams about becoming a pilot one day, just like he dreamed about when he was in middle school.

David received the Virginia Tech Network for Engineering Transfer Students Scholarship (VT-NETS) and studied abroad for the summer in Europe with the Rising Sophomore Abroad Program (RSAP). He also participated in a Multicultural Academic Opportunities Program (MAOP) internship, where he worked with the assistant professor of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech. As a volunteer service, he was involved with Smithfield and Campbell Horse Center at Virginia Tech and the Partners of Montgomery County Animal Shelter at Virginia Tech. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and volleyball.

David mentioned that his role model is his father because of his work ethic and because of his love for his family. David also says that his favorite character is Aang from Avatar because of its great character development.
