"Never be limited by other people's limited imaginations." – Dr. Mae Jemison, First Black Female Astronaut

Leah Rushin is from Ashburn, Virginia, and is a junior in Industrial and Systems Engineering. She says the best thing about being a Virginia Tech Engineering student is that you can make many connections through the program. When Leah was in middle school, she dreamed about becoming a dermatologist. Now that she is at Virginia Tech, she dreams about creating a STEM program that underprivileged kids have access to.

Currently, she is a CEED tutor that helps first-year engineering students and is also a part of NSBE, and hosts a variety of volunteering services. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, listening to music, and trying new things.

Leah mentioned that her role models are her parents because they have shown her that hard work can pay off. She also says her favorite cartoon character in Penny Proud is because she finds the most creative ways to turn situations around which she can relate to.
