Jordan Vargas

"Just never giving up. Always pushing through, even if you probably won't succeed, there's something to be gained as well."
Jordan Vargas is a sophomore majoring in Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, where he maintains a GPA of 3.47. Hailing from Burke, Virginia, Jordan finds the community and cultural support within his major to be the best aspects of being a VT Engineer. He has three older sisters and three cats named Namo, Loki, and Irmo.
Jordan enjoys playing soccer, going to the gym, and binging shows. His favorite cartoon character is Spider-Man for his resilience and determination. He listens to Indie and Rap music and cites Nacho Libre as his favorite film. Inspired by his mother’s perseverance and Lionel Messi’s excellence in soccer, Jordan aspires to pursue a graduate degree in a specialized field with a focus on impactful research within the semiconductor industry.
He is actively involved with the College of Engineering through his roles on the executive board for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), the Galipatia Leadership Team (GLT), and the College of Engineering Dean's Team. Jordan volunteers through SHPE's Outreach program, participating in activities such as making blankets for animal shelters and contributing to community events like the Big Event.
Jordan’s ambition is to overcome imposter syndrome and help others recognize their potential for success.
