STEP Academic Areas

STEP students in a lecture hall.

You will participate in classroom and laboratory situations similar to what you will experience in your first semester. You will have homework and tests, and you will participate in a chemistry lab orientation.

You will receive intensive mathematics instruction designed to refresh your skills in the basics necessary for success in engineering fundamentals and calculus.  At the end of the five weeks, you will take the Mathematics Department's Calculus Diagnostic Test (Math Readiness Test).

Engineering Education

You will have the opportunity to become familiar with engineering tools and have a chance to apply problem-solving techniques to typical first-year engineering problems as well as project team work similar to what will be expected in your first-year engineering courses and beyond.
