About the Office:
The Global Engineering, Engagement and Research (GEER) Office in the College of Engineering is responsible for supporting and promoting the international activities of the college, including education abroad and exchange programs for students, international research and faculty activities, hosting international visitors, and international alumni relations.
General Purpose of Position:
The student assistant is a part-time student wage position available for an undergraduate student. Preference is given to engineering majors interested in international programs. The student assistant is responsible for providing administrative and event planning support to the College of Engineering Office of Global Engagement, especially the Global Engineering Ambassadors. This includes data entry, event support, small research projects, and other administrative tasks as needed to support the activities of the office.
Job Duties:
- Coordinating event planning and logistics for study abroad fairs, orientations, or other events that promote international experiences for undergraduate engineering students
- Designing, printing and assembling posters, flyers, and brochures for study abroad fairs
- Designing and managing online surveys for events and scholarships
- Researching grants, scholarships, and other resources to support international activities
- Updating the Global Engagement (International Programs/Study Abroad) webpages
- Managing listservs and using social media to promote international opportunities
- Assembling information about the college for international visitors
- Serving as a liaison between the Global Engineering Ambassadors and the office, including managing applications for scholarships and coordinating events
- Aiding in the recruitment and training of Ambassadors
- Presenting to engineering students in classes and at events to promote going abroad
- Current undergraduate student
- Preference is given to engineering majors with experience in international programs, either studying abroad or other significant international experience
- Knowledge and experience with relevant software, including Microsoft Office and publishing software (Adobe Publisher a plus) Knowledge of administrative procedures
- Familiarity with event planning
- Highly proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar and verbal communication
- Proven experience writing professional correspondence
