Terra Lee
Terra Lee, a senior studying mechanical engineering, has been involved with CEED for three years by volunteering for a variety of positions at the CAMEO Career Fest. During the 2016-2017 academic year, Lee rose to the position of Chair to oversee the planning and execution of the entire event. Lee was responsible for registering companies and students and worked closely with the webmaster to optimize logistics and registering attendees. One of the innovations implemented by Lee was the pre-registration system to reduce chaos on the day of the event. Throughout the year, Lee also ensured that all the CAMEO organizations were corresponding with each other to coordinate and share the events for both the students and the company representatives.
Lee originally got involved with CEED by becoming an officer in SASE as the external fundraiser her freshman year. She then became heavily involved with SWE as the secretary her sophomore year, and the vice-president her junior year. Through her commitment to these organizations, she was selected to receive the CAMEO Scholarship in 2015.
As a mechanical engineer student, Lee knew that experiences would help her to find a career path that she wants to pursue. In 2015, she took a semester to co-op at GE Aviation for eight months in Cincinnati, Ohio as a product support engineer. She then did an internship at the Ford Motor Company in Dearbon, Michigan as a manufacturer engineer in 2016. Because of her outstanding performance, Lee will work at Ford as a full-time engineer in the Ford College Graduate program in Livonia, Michigan, this September.
Traveling and taking photos is one of Lee’s biggest hobbies. She has been to 19 countries so far and wants to reach 50 before she retires. When she has free time, she also enjoys cooking and baking. Being “somewhat good everything” is her long-term goal, so she challenges herself every day to find new things to learn.
She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA in 2013, and plans to graduate with her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with Honors in May 2017.
