Jonathan Meeker

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
Jonathan P. Meeker is a sophomore at Virginia Tech, currently enrolled in the Department of General Engineering with a 3.5 GPA. Originally from Haymarket, VA, Jonathan values the community and connections he’s built through classes and career fairs. He’s working toward transferring into the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department in the fall semester.
Growing up with six siblings—four brothers and two sisters—Jonathan learned the importance of family and support, a lesson reinforced by his biggest role model, his mom, who taught him to care deeply for others. He also has a dog named Chewie, who adds to the lively family dynamic.
Jonathan enjoys playing guitar, baking, and going to the gym in his free time. His favorite cartoon character is Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender, simply because “he’s a dawg,” embodying a fun and fearless spirit. He’s a fan of Indie Rock and considers The Dark Knight his favorite film for its compelling storytelling.
As a child, Jonathan dreamed of building prosthetic limbs that could restore lives—limbs capable of feeling and simulating touch like real ones. While his career goals have evolved, he still aspires to secure a fulfilling job that allows him to support his family.
Beyond academics, Jonathan volunteers with Young Life, helping staffers share the gospel at camp sites. If he could change one thing in the world, he’d create a foster care system that truly allows families to thrive, reflecting his deep sense of compassion and desire to make a meaningful impact.
