"We struggle in our minds more than we do in reality"
Baibhav Nepal is a senior at Virginia Tech, pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science with a 3.75 GPA. Originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, Baibhav is passionate about blending classroom learning with experiential opportunities, leveraging Virginia Tech's robust academic environment, extensive alumni network, and access to undergraduate research to enhance his education.
At Virginia Tech, Baibhav is actively involved in numerous organizations. He joined the Galipatia Community during his freshman year, where he was introduced to CEED and later contributed as a CEED Summer Camp mentor for both the Drone Camp and Imagination Camp. As the Membership Enrichment Chair for the Student Engineers' Council, Baibhav represents the College of Engineering student body, fostering connections among engineering organizations and design teams. Additionally, he is a member of IEEE at VT and the Engineers' Forum, and he has served as an Undergraduate TA for ENGE 1216 (Foundations of Engineering II). Baibhav is also engaged in undergraduate research with professors from the Department of Engineering Education, focusing on smart home ecosystems.
Baibhav’s passion for community service began in Nepal, where he was part of the Interact Club of Kathmandu, organizing blood drives, food drives, and clothing donations for rural communities. He later joined Youth Thinkers' Society (YTS - Nepal) and Awareness 360, starting as an intern and eventually becoming the Operations Team Lead, supporting global volunteers in executing social impact projects. After moving to the U.S., he continued his service through a Service Learning class and as a Blood Donation Ambassador with the American Red Cross, dedicating numerous volunteer hours in Blacksburg and Christiansburg.
In his free time, Baibhav enjoys creative writing, playing and watching cricket, singing, and engaging in community outreach. Although he doesn’t have a specific favorite in terms of music or movies, his diverse interests reflect his open-minded and curious nature. As a child, he dreamed of pursuing Political Science and International Relations, but his journey led him to computer science, where he now aims to apply his academic knowledge and practical experience to thrive in the U.S. workforce. Baibhav is excited to contribute to society through his skills and leadership, driven by his commitment to making a positive impact both locally and globally.
