Upper Class Leaders
Please see the information below for additional information on the position and how to apply! There is A LOT of info in here, and there have been some KEY CHANGES for the upcoming year. Make sure you read all the information BEFORE you start the application, and let us know if you have any questions.
Check out this short video about why you may want to apply to remain in the community; https://youtu.be/W76Gc71MWJI
If you would like to apply, here are some things you need to know:
- The application for Upper-Class Leaders is now open! The StarRez applications are due by 8am on November 20th. We will not accept any late applications.
- You can apply to be a committee member, a mentor, or both! The mentor and committee member positions are separate, so you can serve the community in the way that works for you! Please see the job descriptions for committee members and mentors to get more information.
- If you are hired to be a Residential Well-Being Student Leader, you can serve as a committee member but you cannot serve as a mentor.
- If you are chosen to remain in the community as a UCL, it means you must live in Pritchard Hall. This is a requirement of all returning students and is part of the Second Year Seminar that meets every Tuesday night from 7:00-8:15 pm during the fall and spring semester. This is a one credit graded course. The work for the course is the planning of events. There are no exams, so your grade is based on the work you do in your committee or with your mentor group.
- On November 20th at 8am, the list of applicant names will be exported and sent to our leadership teams, your Galileo or Hypatia seminar instructor, your mentor, the Residential Well-Being student leaders, and other upper-class leaders in the community. As a group, we will select those who will remain in the community as committee members and mentors. We will use your application and your community involvement experience to make those decisions.
- We will send out all committee offers through StarRez by no later than November 20th. You will have until 8am on December 8th to accept the offer. If you do not reply to StarRez we will assume that means you do not wish to accept the offer and take your name off our housing list.
- The UCL offers are binding. Per the Housing & Residence Life policy, if you change your mind about being in the community after accepting the offer, you will forfeit the ability to live anywhere on campus the following fall.
- For those offered a leadership position, we will work with you in the spring semester regarding your roommate and room location. Your roommate selection is guaranteed only if both you and your desired roommate mutually request to live together. We will do my best to get you in the area of the building that you want but can make no guarantees. We ask that you are flexible in this area. Being a leader in this community means making compromises to ensure the first-year students have the best experience possible.
