Accelerated Masters Program (AMP)

The Accelerated Masters Program (AMP) provides support for students to obtain a master’s degree in one year of graduate school by enrolling students in the program during their senior year. This program was designed to increase the numbers of women earning masters degrees in engineering.

Seniors receive:

1) Scholarship of up to $10,000
2) Paid summer research after senior year[1]
3) Professional, personal and academic development support

Graduate students receive:

1) Full Tuition and academic fees
2) a monthly stipend for the academic year;
3) Professional, personal and academic development support

Undergraduate students are expected to commit ~10 hours per month in service to the CEED Office. There are a host of opportunities available – some of which are mentioned under Suggested Activities to Support the Program/CEED below. Upon approval from the program administrator, students may also design their own service project.

The program requires graduate students to contribute an average of ten hours per week to earn this support. Below are a number of options and there are many others including research, grading papers and community service.

Suggested Activities to Support the Program/CEED

1.    Teach Hypatia Freshman Seminar (4 hours/week)
2.    Help CEED Plan for Summer Camps (Spring only, about 2-4 hours/week)
3.    CAMEO CareerFest (Fall & Spring, 1-2 hrs/week in Fall, 2-3 hrs/week in Spring)
4.    Applicant Recruiting (estimated 7-10 hours/month at most)
5.    General Support for CEED Programs (time is flexible, can fill in)
