Giovanni Morris is from Winchester, Virginia and is a sophomore in Aerospace engineering with a GPA of 3.89. He says the best thing about being a Virginia Tech engineer are the excellent professors like Dr. Roger Chang, and the amount of opportunities to get involved through design teams and research programs. When he was in middle school, he wanted to be a fighter pilot because he thought it was the best thing one could do in life. Now that he is at Virginia Tech, he dreams of being a regular pilot because he believes it is the second best thing one can do in life. Giovanni says that if he could change one thing, he would allow people to live their lives freely irrespective of the national, ethnic, religious, familial, racial disputes from past generations that many people choose or are forced to continue.
Giovanni is a part of the Galileo LLC and also Design Build Fly. He also used to volunteer for NHS in high school and he helped other piano students when he was part of Treehouse Music Studio. In his freetime, he enjoys playing piano, biking, eating, and spending time with his friends.
Giovanni says that his role model is Mario Vernon Watson because he advised Giovanni with many things over the years in track, school, and life in general. Watson continues to be an amazing man to look up to today. Giovanni also mentioned some of his favorites: his favorite cartoon character is Pablo from the Backyardigans, his favorite genre of music is R&B, and his favorite film is Interstellar.
