Engineering Open House for Undergraduates

Are you a high school student interested in applying to Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering, or an undergraduate student considering a transfer into Virginia Tech and the College of Engineering? Or have you been offered an admission to the College of Engineering and want to learn more to make an informed decision? 

The Engineering Open House will take place on Monday, April 13, 2026. Discover the opportunities offered at VT COE through presentations, lab tours, booth showcases and campus tours.

Engineering Open House Schedule

Location: Squires Student Center - 290 College Avenue, Blacksburg, VA 24060.

7:30AM - 8:25AM: Check-in 
8:30AM - 8:40AM: Welcome and Day's Agenda 
8:40AM - 9:00AM: College of Engineering Overview
9:00AM - 9:30AM: Office of Undergraduate Admissions 
9:30AM - 10:00AM: Introduction to General Engineering 
10:15AM - 11:05AM: Breakout Sessions
11:15AM - 12:05PM: Breakout Sessions

12:30PM - 3:30PM -  Booth showcase will be organized to provide an opportunity to connect with faculty, staff and students from all engineering majors, departments and student organizations. No sign up is needed for booth showcase. More information will be posted closer to the event. 

Afternoon Sessions: Specialty sessions, campus tours, and lab tours are offered during the following three time blocks and to read the specialty session descriptions, please visit here.

Students will be able to attend only one program per time block in the afternoon and only one lab tour during the entire event. Registrants will receive an email with their assigned lab tour five days before the Open House. While we cannot guarantee a specific lab tour, we will do our best to accommodate one of your selections and lab tours will be assigned in the order registrations are submitted and it is based on first come and first serve.

Outlined upper chicken hill lot

Parking: The Upper Chicken Hill Lot (927 Southgate Drive, Blacksburg, VA 24016) is reserved for families attending the event. Registered attendees can park for free, no parking pass is needed. The lot is outlined in red on the map. It is located at the intersection of Sterett Drive and Southgate Drive and we will have signage where to park. Please only park in the designated area, as VT COE is not responsible for any citations incurred for parking outside of approved zone. 

Shuttle Service: Shuttles will run throughout the day between the Upper Chicken Hill Lot and Squires Student Center, starting at 7:20 AM until 4:30PM.
