Romina's Trip to Spain

Romina joined the VT in Spain program while working toward a dual major in Civil Engineering and Spanish. One of her favorite memories was experiencing a vibrant festival in Toledo—she said the magical decorations looked like something out of a Disney movie! During her time abroad, she was also fascinated to learn about Spain’s rich history, especially the lasting impact of Arab culture on the country’s traditions and architecture.

Romina encourages other engineering students to study abroad, calling it a great way to build both social and technical skills that are essential for future engineers. Her top advice? Plan ahead and budget for extra expenses—so you don’t miss out on everything the country has to offer. While adjusting to her new living situation came with some challenges, Romina believes those experiences were all part of the personal growth that comes from studying abroad. She says it’s an incredible way to gain a broader, more global perspective.
