Galileo and Hypatia Living Learning Communities

Galileo and Hypatia in a very large group shot.

About Hypatia & Galileo

At Virginia Tech, Living Learning Communities (LLCs) offer a unique bridge into campus life, providing not only a shared living space but also a built-in network of support. Hypatia and Galileo are for female and male engineering students, respectively, pursuing degrees in the College of Engineering. Located in Pritchard Hall, these communities create a home away from home for engineering undergraduates with shared academic interests.

Community goals

  • Bring together first-year and upper class engineering students in a residential environment.
  • Build a community of peers to help with assignments, projects and adjustment to college life.
  • Offer encouragement and support in pursuing the engineering degree.
  • Develop skills for academic success, professionalism, and personal growth.
  • Provide access to upper class community members who serve as mentors and committee members to make the first year experience successful and fun!

Webinar info will be posted next semester for both Galileo and Hypatia.
