Biography

Ian Rehmert brings over 22 years of experience in consumer finance. He joined Republic Finance in 2018 and currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Before joining Republic, he spent eight years at Capital One, where he served as a Credit Officer and later advanced to Head of Mortgage Underwriting. In that role, he successfully stabilized a mortgage portfolio formed through five major bank acquisitions.

He began his financial services career in 2003 at Household, which later became HSBC Consumer Lending. During his tenure, he rose to Senior Vice President of Servicing Analytics and led HSBC’s strategic response to the Great Financial Crisis—driving initiatives and tools that stabilized the North American mortgage portfolio and helped keep tens of thousands of customers in their homes.

Rehmert holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering with a concentration in Operations Research, all from Virginia Tech.

He currently serves on the Virginia Tech College of Engineering Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for the American Financial Services Association (AFSA).
