Engineering Orientation: Virtual Academic Advising and Course Registration

Virtual academic advising and course registration is a series of modules, events, and meetings designed to support you as you transition to college and is required for all new engineering students. This experience is in addition to the University First-Year and Transfer Fall Orientation. An outline of the process is below. If you have questions about Engineering Orientation, email the College of Engineering Academic Affairs Office at coeaa@vt.edu.

Engineering Orientation Outline:

  1. Review the May 9 email you received welcoming you to the college of engineering
  2. Review the virtual academic advising and course registration modules
  3. Complete the engineering orientation checklist items
  4. Review the June 6 email you received with details on mandatory virtual academic advising for your major
  5. Attend COE overview session
  6. Attend optional COE Q&A sessions
  7. Attend mandatory virtual academic advising for your major (dates vary by major)
  8. Register for Fall 2022 courses beginning June 13
