Spring 2025 Engineering Orientation: Virtual Academic Advising and Course Registration
Virtual academic advising and course registration is a series of modules, events, and meetings designed to support you as you transition to college and is required for all new engineering students. This experience is in addition to the University First-Year and Transfer Spring Orientation. An outline of the process is below. Spring 2025 Engineering Orientation Timeline:
- November 15 - December 6: Complete the engineering orientation checklist items
- November 15: Received the College of Engineering Orientation Welcome email
- December 6: Received the Virtual Academic Advising and Course Registration email
- December 9-January 17: Attend mandatory virtual one-on-one academic advising for your major, dates vary by major (this can be done after you begin registering for courses)
- December 2-January 27: Register for courses, this will be an ongoing process and can begin prior to meeting with an academic advisor
- December 19: Attend the mandatory virtual COE Overview Session via zoom at 1:00 p.m.
- December 24-January 1: Virginia Tech Closed
- January 17: Attend university orientation from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
- January 21: Classes begin
