2025 early career awards

Five faculty members in the College of Engineering received early career awards for the 2025 fiscal year.

Newly invented ceramic materials. Fresh understanding of hypersonic flight. Pioneering approaches to artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. 

They’re all groundbreaking research projects from the College of Engineering — and now they’re award-winning as well.

In the 2025 fiscal year, five assistant professors in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, materials science and engineering, and aerospace and ocean engineering were honored with prestigious awards that recognize early-career faculty. 

Peng Gao, Tina Rost, Xuan Wang, and Wenjie Xiong received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, while Liselle Joseph was honored with a Young Investigators Award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
