Thomas Lu is forging a path into biomedical engineering to improve the lives of people facing serious health challenges — a mission inspired by his brother, Gordon. Alongside his research advisor, Eli Vlaisavljevich, and other classmates, Lu has developed advanced, robotically guided histotripsy systems for treating bone cancer. He reflects on how his family has shaped his outlook on life, how technology can reflect our values, and why he's so passionate about helping others through innovation.
