What is the impact of your research?
The proposed research will allow rational discovery strategies for hierarchical structures with extremely high or low thermal conductivity for major advances in numerous applications ranging from renewable energy generation and waste heat harvesting to electronics cooling. By improving the efficiency of energy conversion and heat rejection, the proposed work will essentially contribute to global sustainable energy solutions.
What do you like most about the field of mechanical engineering?
I like it very much. It is such a broad discipline that has a great impact on every aspect of our daily life and industrial practice.
What path did you take to get to this point in your career and research?
I became an assistant professor right after I got my Ph.D. I took this career path, primarily influenced by a senior female faculty and substantially supported by my Ph.D. advisor and my husband. I am passionate about what I am doing. It keeps me busy but very happy.
When you are not researching, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Playing with my two little boys, traveling with my whole family, or going to yoga classes by myself.
