Sharon E. Pedraza

Responsibilities

Sharon serves as a Graduate Assistant for Global Online Engagement. She supports the activities and initiatives of the Global Engineering, Engagement and Research Office, develops and implements the office’s Global Ambassadors Program and supports online engagement.

Education

Sharon holds a Bachelor’s in Mining and Metallurgical Engineer from National University of Colombia. She is currently working on her Master’s in Mining & Minerals engineering at Virginia Tech.

Background

Sharon is originally from Colombia and she came to the US to pursue a master degree in 2021. During her her time at Virginia Tech, she has been actively involved with the Latin American and Iberican Graduate Student Association (LAIGSA) and serves as the Communiation Coordinator and Social Media Chair. She has gained extensive global experience through international trips, conferences, and volunteers programs.
