Renee is responsible for the College of Engineering’s New Horizon Graduate Scholars program as well as the Virginia Tech Early Engineering Mentoring (VTEEM) program.


Renee earned a bachelor's degree in English from Wake Forest University and a graduate certificate in nonprofit and nongovernmental organization management from Virginia Tech.


Prior to working with the College of Engineering’s Research and Graduate Studies team, Renee was the Director of Student Success Programs at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business. In this position Renee worked closely with Pamplin’s corporate partners/sponsors as she directed the Leadership, Excellence and Academics in Pamplin (LEAP) 5-day summer transition program, assisting incoming freshmen successfully bridge the gap between high school and college. She also coordinated Pamplin’s Undergraduate Mentoring Program (PUMP), working with upperclassmen who served as mentors to entering freshmen during their first year, assisting them with acclimating socially and academically. Renee also created “Business Explorations,” Pamplin’s on-campus business conference for high school students.
