Deborah Stevens Hamilton

Special Advisor, Industry Engagement

Responsibilities

Deborah's extensive experience helps define and operationalize key activities for Virginia Tech’s new business engagement center and provides institutional knowledge to LINKS’s new staff, plus nurture relationships with key industry partners. Deborah serves as a point of contact to develop and support comprehensive and mutually beneficial relationships between corporations and Virginia Tech, which provide bottom-line benefits to industry.

Education

A native of Lynchburg, VA, Deborah earned a BA degree from the University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady School of Journalism and holds fundraising certifications from Indiana University's Center on Philanthropy, the United Way of America, the IBM Community Executive Program, and the Grantsmanship Center.

Background

Deborah’s development career spans over 36 years, during which she has served as a vice president, executive director, director, consultant, and fundraiser in the not-for-profit, higher education, and independent school sectors. After 13 years as director within both Virginia Tech’s and the College of Engineering’s Corporate and Foundation Relations group, Deborah Hamilton’s new role is as senior advisor to Dr. Brandy Salmon, Executive Director of LINK, and The Center for Advancing Industry Partnerships.
