We continue to build upon that foundation of research expertise and strength of teaching, investing in talented faculty who seek to push boundaries and shape students to become future leaders in their fields.

Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering is uniquely positioned to fuel the tech-talent pipeline for industry and academia, filling the workforce gap needed to fulfill a globally competitive and innovative economy of the future.

The college is ranked 8th nationally for its research expenditures with exploration expanding into rural, urban, and coastal environments in an intersection across the university, the nation, and the world. 

We are renowned in transformative broad research areas that include computer science and health sciences, but more specifically areas of bio and tissue engineering, translational cancer research, cybersecurity, autonomous systems, advanced manufacturing, blockchain, artificial intelligence, data science and analytics, machine learning, and more.

New positions were identified to enhance the engineering community by bringing additional talent to the classroom and bolster research focus areas. New faculty are welcomed by approximately 400 instructional faculty, 170 staff, 9,000 undergraduate students, and 2,200 graduate students that span the Blacksburg campus and Washington D.C. metro area facilities.
